Nathaniel E. Harris

About

I am Nathaniel Harris, a systems software engineer. I build reliable software for complex systems.

I am self-taught, and I have done this work for more than fifteen years, from custom voxel game engines to space-domain awareness tools. Today I work on Forerunner at Space Interactions, on the services and pipelines behind satellite and orbital data, and the views that show it.

I work at every layer: Rust and MongoDB services, TypeScript and Electron frontends, C++ and HLSL on the GPU, and assembly on the bare machine. I do my best work on small teams that build systems which seem impossible at that size.

I like domains where the rules are external and non-negotiable, such as orbital data, field-service operations and SMS compliance. To learn an unfamiliar system, I take it apart until its opinions become obvious. Then I work inside it, not against it.

Based in Interlochen, Michigan. Co-founder of Harris XR.
